On December 19th, the Society of Food and Nutritional Awareness (SFNA) conducted its first event by the name of Food Gala 1.O. The objective of this event was to give students a chance to participate in extracurricular activities and product development to improve their skills and to provide a platform for students to showcase their individual talents. The modules included in the event were a product development competition, a speech competition, arm wrestling, and badminton.

In product development competitions students were allowed to participate as a team or individually. The theme for product development was to develop a food product that is innovative and has good nutritional value. The products included edible spoons, citrus confectionary, chickpea cookies, radish halwa, special tea-infused carrot fries, and apple sauce.

The speech competition included speeches in both English and Urdu languages. Furthermore, arm wrestling and badminton competitions were also part of the event.

The poster competition was organized to encourage students’ art skills. The topic of poster making was to deliver a message on awareness regarding Food Wastage.

Prof. Dr. Shahid Imran, Campus Coordinator UET Lahore New Campus KSK, applauded the students and faculty for their commendable participation in the event. He lauded the efforts of the society advisor, Ms. Zoufishan Latif (Lecturer), and Prof. Dr. Sikander Rafiq, Chairman of the department for their efforts.

Moreover, Prof. Dr. Sikander Rafiq, Chairman of the department extended his appreciation to the competition winners for their exemplary efforts, underscoring the importance of combining theoretical knowledge with practical application, encouraging cross-disciplinary collaboration, and engaging with the wider community. Events like these contribute to a well-rounded educational experience.
