Award ceremony for distribution of cheques under Ehsaas Undergrad scholarship program
UET being one of the oldest and premier institute of Engineering in Pakistan has always given prime focus on completion of degrees of its students. Alhumdulillah, there have never been dropouts from UET side and none of the students has ever left UET due to his financial circumstances. More than 50% of students get financial aid from UET’s own resources. HEC recently launched Ehaas undergraduate scholarships project which provides financial assistance to the deserving students so that they can continue their education without worrying about financial constraints. The student gets full fee waiver and 40000 PKRs/- per annum as stipend under this scholarship scheme. 3200 students from UET applied for this scholarship and after a series of interviews and strict scrutiny, 1408 students received this scholarship while male and female recipients were 1157 and 251 respectively. This scholarship will cover the financial needs of 15% of the total students enrolled in UET Lahore and its sub-campuses.
The award ceremony for distribution of cheques under the Ehsaas Undergrad scholarship program was held at the Governor House on 26th August 2020. VC UET Lahore Prof. Dr Mansoor Sarwar, Director FA&CS, Dr. Usman Ghani, and Eight students representatives attended the ceremony. Governor Punjab, Chaudhary Muhammad Sarwar embraced the event with his presence. He appreciated efforts of worthy Vice-chancellor for improvements of UET financial and management circumstances. He clearly elaborated the focus of government on the education sector. He explained that no student should leave the degree because of financial conditions. Prof. Dr. Mansoor Sarwar thanked Governor sb and government for entertaining the students with this scholarship. He provided details of the disbursement of this scholarship. Later on, representative of students thanked VC sb and Governor sb for the provision of scholarship. They further emphasized the importance of this scholarship in continuation of their studies. Finally, governor sb disbursed cheques amongst the participants.
