UET organizes talk on “Universities and Economic Development”

University of Engineering and Technology (UET) Lahore organized a talk on Universities and Economic Development. Vice Chancellor University of Bradford UK Mr. Brian Cantor, keynote speaker, along with a delegation participated as chief guest of seminar. While addressing the audience Vice Chancellor Brian Cantor said, “Higher educational institutions play an important role in the economic and human capital development of the country and it is a need of time to make all the universities according to international standards. Therefore, it is important to focus on quality of education for sustainable promotion of higher education to achieve certain goals.

”Brian Cantor further said that educational institutions should also focus on research and development. At this occasion he shed light on the academic system of Bradford University and stated “This university is known among best universities of UK. It is among top 50 best universities of the world and 7 best universities of UK.” He gave the reference of Pakistan’s Prime Minister and former chancellor of Bradford university Mr. Imran Khan and said, “he is very hardworking and honest person. Pakistan is struggling to cope up different challenges and we hope Prime Minister Imran Khan will take the nation out of these challenges while using his capabilities.”

Vice Chairman Pakistan Engineering Council and former vice chancellor of UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Fazal Ahmad Khalid said, “the only way to deal with all challenges in Pakistan is quality education. Increase in promotion of higher education has rapidly improved the educational system of Pakistan. Our students are talented there is the only need to encourage them.”

While concluding the discussion Vice Chancellor UET Lahore Prof. Dr. Aziz Akbar briefed the audience with continued and upcoming projects of university and said, “we are taking measures to promote higher education in exact direction. It is required to provide a healthy educational environment in our universities to grab students from abroad.” Vice Chancellor Bradford University desired to work together with the UET in the future. At this occasion all deans and heads of departments were also present. At the end of seminar Vice Chancellor distributed souvenir among distinguished guests.
