Dr. Muhammad Asif Rafiq is Professor in the Metallurgical and Materials Engineering Department (MME) of University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore (UET) since 2019. He Joined UET Lahore in 2006 as Lecturer

            Muhammad Rafiq is

o   The Head of Electronic Material and Device research group.

o   Director Post Graduate Research Committee of MME department since 2014.

o   Director of Punjab Mineral Company (PMC) since 2017.

o   Director Foundry Service Centre since 2021.

o   Member of Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC).

·         Convener outcome based education since 2017 till 2021 and member of number of OBE related committees.

o   Member of American Society of Non Destructive Testing (ASNT).

o   Member of Academic council, UET Lahore.

o   General secretary of teaching staff association (TSA 2021)

 

His present R&D interest includes Synthesis and characterization of bulk and nanoceramics, biomaterials, piezoelectrics, ferroelectrics, dielectric, magnetic materials especially hexaferrites, engineering of thermoelectric oxide, electrophoretic deposition (EPD) of electrical/magnetic ceramics and biomaterials on flexible substrate and adding value to traditional ceramics. He is also working on increasing the polarization of ferroelectric and magnetic materials for application such as sensors and actuators for both electronic and biomedical fields.

He has published over 42 journal papers, having an impact factor of ˃ 110, h-index of 13 and i10-index of 15.

 He has (is) supervised/co-supervised (ing) 7 PhD more than 30 post-graduate students and ˃ 20 undergraduate projects as well as a frequent referee of SCI journals like RSC Advance, Ceramic International, Journal of Material Science, Applied Physics A among many others. He has reviewed (ing) several proposals for Higher Education Commission (HEC) Pakistan, Pakistan Science Foundation (PSF) and Higher Education Commission, Chile. He has been (is) collaborating with number of groups within and outside Pakistan. His Undergraduate projects were distinguished with the First prize (place) in 2015 and 2016 in MME department and ASHRAE, UET Lahore, and at GIKI respectively.

            The other interest is to promote public awareness and understanding of materials science and engineering and science education.
