Prof. Dr. Mohammad Pervez Mughal ( Professor )

Prof. Mughal got his early education in Lahore. In 1979 he joined Punjab Medical College, Fasilabad for his MBBS but left only after three months and joined UET, Lahore for a BS in Mechanical Engineering. There, he excelled and got first position and got a job offer before graduation.

After a year, he resigned and enrolled in MBA program however, in the meanwhile, he earned merit scholarship for Masters leading to PhD sponsored by USAID. He joined Washington State University and graduated with a PhD in 1993. During his stay at WSU he served as both TA and RA.

He also remained very active in extracurricular activities like initiating a cricket club at WSU and toured Seattle, Los Angeles and Calgary for tournaments. He was also a founding member of Pakistan Student Association and remained its President.

On his return to Pakistan he joined UET, Lahore as Lecturer but later joined GIKI as Assistant Professor in 1996. There he grew to the position of full professor and also held the position of Dean Students Affairs.

In 2007, he moved back to his home town and once again joined UET, Lahore as a tenured Professor in the Department of Mechatronics & Control Engineering. In 2009, he switched to Department of Industrial & Manufacturing Engineering.

Prof. Mughal has extensive experience of teaching, research, administration and curriculum development. He remained advisor to Alternative Energy Development Board, GOP, and Azad Kashmir University of Engineering & Technology, Mirpur. He is a member of curriculum development (Mechatronics and IME) committees of HEC. He has visited many universities as convener PEC accreditation Team. 

While teaching both at undergraduate and post-graduate levels, Professor Mughal has successfully supervised two PhD fellows while five more are working towards their PhDs. He has also supervised more than twenty five MS theses and currently ten candidates are enrolled with him.
