Prof. Dr. Muhammad Zafar Noon ( Professor )

I am serving as a Professor/Campus Coordinator, KSK Campus, University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore. I am a professional engineering educationist with career dating back to 1985 as a lecturer in Chemical Engineering at the University. I completed post-doctorate from the University of Newcastle Upon Tyne in 2005 and doctorate (PhD) from University of Leeds, UK in 1995. My research focus is on topics associated with environmental remediation and gained experience of three different aspects of water treatment. These areas have been (a) an exploratory study of novel photo-electrochemical method of ozone generation (b) photo-catalysis and photo-electrocatalytic treatment (c) microbiological techniques used in disinfections studies. I have supervised number of postgraduate research and undergraduate design projects. Throughout my professional career, I actively involved in the development of the academic culture in the university. During the past 30 years of the service, apart from teaching and research, I served the university as Resident Tutor, Hostel Warden, President and General Secretary Teaching Staff Association, Member House Allotment Committee, General Secretary Federation of All Pakistan Universities Academic Staff Association (FAPUASA), President FAPUASA Punjab, Director Postgraduate Committee, Convener Purchase Committee of the University and member of several university committees. I was elected as a member governing body of the Pakistan Engineering Council (PEC) in 2012. As a member governing body of the PEC, I have organized the First International Young Engineers Convention at the University of Engineering & Technology, Lahore. I am a member of the PEC Engineering Accreditation & Qualification Equivalence Committee, Committee for Professional Development of Engineers and Provincial Enrollment. We have actively pursued to uplift the PEC to get Washington Accord registration for our engineers. Major achievements as a Campus Coordinator includes: establishment of different departments at the newly established campus and Centre for Energy Research and Development (CERAD) that also includes state of the art Energy Park.
