Laser and Optronics Center was established at the University of Engineering and Technology, Lahore in 2007. The center is of its own kind in any educational institute of Pakistan having state-of-art laboratories equipped with Laser Systems including Ti:Sapphire Laser (Femto Second Laser), Excimer Laser, 1st and 2nd harmonic Nd: YAG laser and Nitrogen Laser. Also there are well-equipped Computer and Advance Electronics Labs in the Centre along with a Library with comprehensive collection of books on Laser and Optronics which provide favorable environment for skill development, learning and reading. With the facilities available at the Laser and Optronics Centre, research is presently being carried out in the fields of Photonics, Optoelectronics, Laser Matter Interaction, Laser induced Plasma, Material Processing and Fabrication, and Sensors/Actuators Development.
